It’s FINALLY time to get back to matches again at West Liberty Gun Club! I like to take this time of year to reflect back at the year and give thanks for all of the little, and big, things that go thankless all throughout the year. In reflection this year has been very challenging to say the least, we started out the year with an unplanned barbeque that turned our world upside down with the loss of our clubhouse and all of its contents. So many people have been involved in some way, shape, or form, everyone from the West Liberty fire & police departments to all of you who lent a hand during clean up or even construction of a new temporary structure. I am thankful for all who have helped out in so many ways. And just when things started to get rolling again another set back resulted in suspension of matches at the club for a few months. Again, many of you helped out in sorting through details and developing a path to shooting again. So to all of you, I want to say Thank You! I have to pay a special Thanks to a few of you whom without you this club would not be what it is, Doc and Esther Stock – without your tireless input, help, knowledge, and planning this club, and particularly practical shooting, would not be what it is today. Gary Heaverlo, Charlie Hall, Bill Wilson, Bob Jensen, Bill Beem – your countless hours of set-up, tear down, prop building, and innovation go thankless far too often. Ryan Zeisler – thanks for keeping the stats this year. And to the many many more that have contributed to our sport in so many ways, Thank You all!
So in the spirit of thanks, the West Liberty Practical Shooters would like to invite you, and all of your friends, to come shoot with us Sunday, December 1st for FREE! We will have 6 stages of USPSA fun set-up for your enjoyment. Final round count will be between 120 to 135 rounds. Match set-up will be Saturday, November 30 at 9:00am. I am begging for volunteers, as we have been on hiatus for a few months I am sure we can use all the help we can get. Final set-up on Sunday morning will be at 7:30am with registration (in the new shed) to begin at 8:00am. Please register asap when showing up so that we can get everyone squaded, as we will now have assigned squads. We will have a shooters meeting/safety briefing at 8:45 with first shots at 9:00am.
Let’s send 2013 out with a Bang! I hope to see you all there.
We had a great turn out for our first range clean up day, and now it’s time to finish up the project. The time has come to finish up on the indoor range and tighten up the belt around the range. We have a list of projects that range from fire debris clean-up to trimming grass and weeds. With a coordinated group effort I am sure we can restore order back to the range and get the final preparations for re-opening the range to the public.
We will be starting the clean-up on Sunday June 30th at 9:00am. Whether you can join us for the day or just a few hours please stop out and help us clean up. Please dress accordingly and bring plenty to drink. If you are able to bring along weed trimmers, shovels, or other helpful clean-up tools please do so. Don’t forget the bug spray!
