Hello all,While the physical progress may not show it, the WLGC Board of Directors and subcommittees have been hard at work.
The clean-up committee has been hampered by a few minor setbacks but we will beginning demolition and clean-up soon. We have secured the indoor range to all members and any visitors that may wander on to club property. We remind you that there is still a significant amount of fire debris on the ground outside the clubhouse, and all areas within 20 feet of the building should be avoided at all cost. We have had several great offers for help and will be putting out a call for volunteers as soon as we can get a few more things ironed out.
The fundraising committee has met a few times and has tons of great ideas we are currently working on. We will be kicking off some real professional efforts soon to get the ball rolling. Not only will we be asking for donations from our members, friends, neighbors, businesses, and partners, but we will also be planning many events to spread awareness and raise some funds as well. One of our first projects was connecting with our members, public, competitors, and businesses alike. In our effort to connect, we have redesigned the website to be much more user friendly and up to date as well. You can now access the site at all of our club domains: www.westlibertygunclub.com, www.westlibertygunclub.org, and www.westlibertygunclub.net. The site will be your portal for all things WLGC, from club calendar, to membership renewal and waiver forms, to match results and announcements. Or you can also follow us on the West Liberty Gun Club Facebook page.
The building and planing committee is currently researching building options and costs. We are contacting other recent ranges in our area and industry professionals alike in an effort to sort through the daunting task of providing our pre-fire facilities while making the necessary updates for health and safety. Preliminary engineering reports indicate that the walls will need additional testing to definitively determine if they can be re-used.
We are all anxious to get started in returning the range to its pre-fire status. Do you have any great ideas? Please send them to club President Dave Kelzenberg. Dave will forward them to the correct committee so they don’t get lost in the shuffle. Please send all comments and ideas to Davidemail@example.com.
FROM THE BRASS BAG
Uh Oh…….Gotta Go!
Have you been avoiding the range because your afraid of someone seeing you have to do the pee pee dance? Not to worry, we have purchased a solution for our temporary need. 2 porta-potties have been delivered to the range. One was delivered to the practical pistol bays, and the other is up near the rifle range. Please send a message to WLgunclub@gmail.com if you see the facilities need attention or supplies. Please use as needed.
Saying Goodbye to a Friend
Thanks to all of you who made it out to the West Liberty Community center to share your memories, stories, and regards as we celebrated the life of our good friend Curtis Koele. Curt you will be missed! $495 was raised in Curt’s name for the rebuilding of the club, as he would have wished.
As a part of our commitment to re-opening the range to members and public alike, we have identified the need for a place to conduct regular business at the club. One of the first structures in our rebuilding process will be to construct a small shed/building that we can call home at the club for a temporary basis. The building will be a place for members to sign in, Range Officers to get out of the weather, and maybe even a small meeting/class space. The building will be portable in nature so that it can be re-purposed as storage once a permanent structure can be re-built. Look for the building and more details soon.
