Dear WLGC Members
I wanted to let everyone know that there will be a remembrance/celebration of the life of Curtis Koele taking place on Saturday, Feb. 23, 1:00-3:00, at the West Liberty Community Center, 1204 North Calhoun St. in West Liberty. It will be an open-house event with snacks and drinks and coffee. Remarks and remembrances will be made at 2:00 PM. We will have an “open mic” so anyone who wishes to do so will be able to share their thoughts and memories of Curtis. I hope we will have a good turnout and perhaps some who were inspired by him or worked with him will be willing to share remembrances.
Sandy (Curtis’ Mom) would like this event to also serve as a benefit for the West Liberty Gun Club and 4H. We both agreed that Curtis would want to do whatever he could to benefit the club in this difficult time. It is good to know that Curtis is working to benefit the club even after his death. To that end, we will have a place for memorial contributions to be made.
I would like to ask those of us who are able to do so to provide the snack items for this event. If you or your spouse would be able to make a batch of cookies, a cake, or bring some pop, punch, nuts or chips or other “munchables” please let me know. I hope our members will be able to step up and provide the goodies. Plates, cups, coffee, and napkins will be provided by Sandy. Please let me know if you are able to bring something so we know what to expect.
Other news about our post-fire progress will be sent out soon, but I wanted to get the word out concerning this special and important event as soon as possible. I know we all want to give Curt a wonderful send-off.
